In a few weeks I'm going back to the ER full time. This job is just too boring for me on top of the fact they are knit picky there and constantly coming at me about things I'm doing wrong, but meanwhile I didn't get the proper training. I feel like I'm more of a nurse, helping people more and doing what I went to school for in the ER. I do know what I'm going back to and it's just like here we go again. I'm just going to try to not let the stress get to me, I'm going to try to snack throughout the day and stay hydrated. I can say since I've been at this job I have made strength gains and built more muscle. I was at a plateau for like a year and a half. I'll have to bump my calories up and make sure I'm eating enough for all that activity so I can keep building and getting stronger. It will be nice to go back to only having to work 3 days a week. I will be able to get more done. I am taking a pay cut, but the benefits there are better and I like the doctors better there as far as my own personal doctors. There's no where that's perfect, but at least in the ER I have more autonomy and am not getting micromanage and constantly be told I'm doing things wrong. Oh, don't let me leave out being blamed for some things I did wrong, but it wasn't me and it was clearly shown on the documents who it was that did the things wrong.

Good for you, take care of your mental health. I left a toxic place and eventually retired from my dream job.

That's great. Yes, even though the ER is stressful, but at least I'm not micromanaged there and don't feel like I'm constantly walking on egg shells and wandering if I'm going to get fired

Also, even though I'm taking a pay cut. Over time is available all the time and they do bonuses there for over time, so if I need more money for something I can just sign up for over time here and there

Remind me what you were doing that going back to the ER is a pay cut?

I found that working other areas was fairly dull after critical care nursing and dialysis.

I can’t stand to be micromanaged! We have some of that at our school. 🙄 After 24 years of teaching, it gets old. I’d rather be crazy busy than BORED! Glad you are able to go back to the ER.

Stormgirl—- I hear ya. I’m an adrenalin junky too. Being bored makes the time drag as well. My ER was 72 beds, we were never bored.

I too hate being micromanaged. As a teacher I felt like I had the lee way to conduct my classroom as I saw fit. And I did...at first. Last few years, things changed and then we were forced to all be doing same things....it sucked! That's when I retired. I hope this gives you the satisfaction you are looking for. I'm sure it's much more eventful!🩷

A telephone triage nurse. Isn't that crazy that non-bedside nursing jobs pay more than bedside where it's more stressful and you're busting your butt non stop?

In my neck of the woods that isn’t the case—ER is an area that often gets a premium pay.

The crazy thing is, we're a busy level 2 trauma center

work drama is the worst, and i can't even imagine how bad it must be for a medical workplace.

I have to say that almost anywhere that I have ever worked did we have a significant amount of work/employee trauma/drama. We needed each other too bad, we needed everyone to have each other’s back. In a 72 bed trauma center with a high number of knife and gun club patients, we couldnt not be there for each other.
