Veritas1958's Logboek, 27 aug 24

I'm at my target weight. I want to maintain this, or else go a little lower. 62kg would be okay, but below 60 would not. So many of my pieces of clothing now swim on me. Bit of a problem. I've already bought new clothes which have now become too big.
Quandary: Do I go ahead and buy more of my current size, or wait until I get down to 62? On the other hand, I fear that I will gain if I relax too much. I certainly need clothes to be available for a heavier me.
Another problem: My eldest (a daughter) is accusing me of being "anorexic". I'd definitely like to be around 60kg, and to stay there. Much of my excess weight is actually excess skin (Not pretty!!!). I am not imagining myself fat in any way. My body is in similar proportions to how it used to be when I was a younger 65kg. My age (66), and the number of babies (4), however, mean that my tummy area is bigger, and my face (especially) is more saggy, along with the rest of me.
Shouldn't complain when I've reached a goal! My younger son's 21st birthday is coming up --- time to celebrate (with all of the wrong foods!!!).

Anorexic people usually have a goal weight that is considered underweight. If you reach your goal lowest weight and then still have the urge to lose, then I would worry. Your daughter just may not understand the dieting mindset. She obviously loves and has concern for you though.

My lowest adult weight was 57kg (at age 25, on my wedding day). It looked fine, I thought, but a couple of people thought that I was too thin. At 167 cm (5ft 6in), 57 kg is okay, I believe. I definitely don't want to get to 57 again. What's more, I don't want to have to buy smaller clothes. With 62 kg as my goal, and leaving it there, I would fit back into some of my old clothes (if they can be found!!!!). Getting up to nearly 120 kg (in 2015) caused so much shame. Being a normal weight has reversed the shame.

get smaller clothes aim to look your best, you've earnt it. My son also worries about my weight loss but it is coming from a loving place, she'll adapt to how her slimmer mum looks especially if your clothes fit nicely.

I have heard it all. The worst was that people think you have cancer. I just ignore everything they say.

Well done! Celebrate your efforts with new clothes for the new healthier you! Just keep all the fattening breads and pastries and snacks and cheese etc out of the house as much as possible and eat more fruit n veg, you'll easily stay slim then. You'll also show your kids good eating habits :-) Slimmer = healthier and living longer for your kids :-)
