Zavala said she could figure out the diet recipe for me. Sounds a little like alchemy. I'll bet her next request is that I freeze and FedEx one to her. :)

To me this looks like a vanilla slice, double decker. In NZ we call them custard squares or slice. If you like coconut you could put a can of coconut cream in the fridge overnight, them whip with vanilla paste on high untill its like thick whipped cream/frosting. Use a sheet of frozen puff pastry cut into desired size, put on baking paper and bake for 6-10 mins 180 deg, place a cooling wrack on top of the pastry when it comes out of the oven to squish it in height. When its cold assemble deliciousness, you can put lemon zest in the coconut cream. Good luck

I was trying to figure out what separated the cream. Crumbly or a pastry/filo dough.

Napoleon. Used to be my favorite. But now I remember how I used to feel after I ate it, and I don't miss it anymore. Cute picture!

Zavala. It's some kind of dark pastry middle with a thick cream, not a custard in between and about 1/8 inch of icing on the top. Shouldn't be hard to send it frozen. It's cold today.

In this neck of the woods, it is custard. Bet the cream would be good too.
