Northern people laugh at Southerners for their fear of the cold. Well, I lived in Alaska for a few years before returning to Texas, and cold there was not as cold as cold is in South Texas. Northerners know how to prepare for it, and buildings are made to be warm.
Here in South Texas, we aim to make buildings as cool and as breezy as possible in order to survive our triple digits in the summertime. Right now, the inside of my home is about 50F or 10C. This is up from the 40F it was over night. Every heating unit I own is running, but outside's 28F sucks all the heat out of here.
Thankfully, I have plenty of fat stores to burn for body heat! ;)
