I just read on Ketovangilist I am eating too much protein. I have metabolic syndrome and I don't get much exercise so the amount of protein I am eating is turning into glucose. It makes sense in a way. All of you losing lots of weight are exercising. You are building muscle with the protein you eat. I on the other hand am not building muscle. I can't walk much due to an Achilles tendon issue and my fake knees don't work. I am trying isometric. Maybe I found a way to make this work?

Do you have access to a pool? That's the only way my aunt can get any exercise. Since I started this WOE in August, other than daily movements, I haven't exercised and am not allowed to start until I see my Dr again next week. We'll help you figure this out!

There isn't a pool in Roswell anymore. It was leaking too bad to save and the money collected from us tax payers for a new pool was spent on stupid alien, uof Roswell signs.

Try and Tweak and Try again. Each of us has a slightly different take on Keto. I have found Intermittent Fasting to be essential to cutting stall in weight loss. Next , like you, if I start stalling again, will consider my protein numbers. Great tip on "Ketovangilist" !!!!

How much is too much protein? I had Achilles’ tendon/bone spur surgery in July and I can’t exercise my legs either.

I don't know how much protein, is too much, either, but I try for this: fat = protein + net carbs and I limit my net carbs to 20 grams per day (using Atkins to track carbs). I currently target my calories at 1275 per day. My weight has been steady +/- 2 lbs for the last 6 weeks.

So far, there is no agreed upon "perfect" amount of protein for people's diet. The amount of protein will make a difference on the Keto diet. I think too much protein will convert to glucose taking you out of fat burning mode. Keto folks help me out here? It would't hurt to cut back on your protein and see if it makes a difference. The minimum amount of protein for me is 60 grams. Keep tweaking!

Yesterday I went to a website called "lchfnation.com. It gives you information about how much protein you should be consuming. "Adult women need about 46 grams a day - minimum". Even with this, it will still vary by how active/inactive you are. I was consuming way too much protein and my weight actually went up after the first week. So, now I'm paying attention and logging everything I eat in FS. This week, I already notice the difference. It will take me awhile to tweek my woe to get my macros down. Just google macros for lchf/Atkins, etc. and you will get all sorts of sites that should help you.

Ask your doctor what sarcopenic obesity is and the importance of optimizing protein intake. You are currently consuming about 60 grams a day and there is no clear evidence protein turns to glucose at this level of protein consumption on a keto diet. By consuming less protein you will increase the likelihood of sarcopenic obesity which increases institutionaliztion, shortens mortality and can be reversed by increasing protein, getting exercise and dieting(losing weight).
