I haven't been real hungry lately. I get that way sometimes. Maybe since it's summer time and hot, I don't have much of an appetite. I been forcing myself to at least get my protein in. My lower back is hurting today, because I was pushing myself too hard with the deadlifts. I'm trying to get my weight up, because I feel I should be able to lift more than I am. I had a chiropractor appt today. Of course he doesn't like me deadlifting and says I should go light. I told him I'm frustrated, because old people on Instagram can lift heavier than me in their 70's to 80's. He said I have a bad back and everyone's body is different. I'm just so frustrated, because I want to keep going up in weight and getting stronger and stronger, which I am, but I feel I should be further than I am by now. 🥹😤😩

it's always you against the you from yesterday everyone progresses at a different rate. there are plenty of chiropractors that support weight lifting and deadlifts. I know I have had one that did. my back problems have seriously decreased after I started weight lifting from all the strength in the muscles along my spine no more throwing it out doing random meaningless movements. good luck

thanks. He says I can weight train, but do high reps and lighter weight. He's been telling me that, but I love deadlifting heavy and I'll probably keep doing it, but maybe only with my trainer. Sometimes I get in my head and push myself way more than I should and this happens. This isn't the first time I tweaked my back trying to push myself beyond what my body will allow thinking I should be able to lift more weight than I am. It's just so frustrating how my strength waxes and wanes week to week and sometimes day to day

That's normal too especially with the deadlift above all other exercises to fluctuate from dya to day. I could go from being able to pull 345 for 11 reps one day then 6 days later only pull 315 for 3 its a full body lift that is very fatigueing and heavily reliant on the CNS being rested and ready to perform it.

Obesetobeast123, that's true. It's just frustrating. I feel like I'm progressing so slow

slow and steady, progressive overload. OTB worded it best. overtime your highest PR increases, one week it's 30, a week or 2 later it's 40...etc. even if you don't do 40 all day! Don't compare yourself to people on social media...they might be recording on a good day, but doubt it's like that for them every session.. compare yourself to you las week, month, year!

Rn, what is the weight you feel comfortable deadlifting?

I can do higher reps for 175, but I can go up to 180-185. I was pushing g myself and going to 215, even though 205 I was just doing 1-2 reps. I haven't hit a PR since Jan or Feb and that was 225, so that's why I feel I should be able to go heavier. Now I have to take a break from the gym, hopefully only a week

My dad gave me his steroid dose pack, so I'm going to try that. I just pray I don't have a disk bulge. Every time I bend over it hurts and the pain runs down my leg. It mainly hurts on the lower right side, but the left lower hurts a little

If it’s hurting your back, go lighter. Or you may need more muscle recovery time in between WOs.

Also, warming up your muscles prior to heavy lifting is vital to prevent injury. Sorry you are in pain. Ugh!! Prayers!!

Yeah, I hurt myself a bit with dumbell Deadlifts, overdid it one day and ended up with muscle aches that started in my lower back and moved up to my shoulders and neck to the point I could barely turn my head. It took about 3 weeks to recover from that.

Look up deadlifting on a reputable site and you will find that it is just as effective to do more reps at lighter weights than only a few at heavy. I use dumb bells and have a had a coach be sure of my form to protect my back. Hang in there but you do need to protect your back!

Heavy weights aren't always the best. Comparing yourself to folks on social media (where so much can be stages) isn't always the best. Strengh is about more than how much you can lift.

I won't be deadlifting for a couple weeks now. I do warm up before I work out. For now on, I'll only go heavy when I'm working with my coach and not on my own. My problem is I get in my head and push myself. I can't go to the gym for at least a week now. I'm soo mad at myself

@RN16…Don’t be so hard on yourself! You were just trying to strengthen your body! Live & learn. There’s nothing wrong with trying to push yourself to go heavier, your body just wasn’t ready. Your mind was. It happens to all of us from time to time. Rest the best you can and prayers!! Hugs, too!
