the beginning can be rough physically and mentally but it gets easier. the first month is the worst by far take it one day at time eventually it just becomes a way of life and you don't miss it at all or even think about it. avoiding social situations where you would typically drink is pretty important in the beginning too. I remember the first two weeks being having all sorts of physically crap going in. you can do it! 🙂

Encourage you to research nutritional support supplements. Alcohol depletes a number of water soluble vitamins including C and B complex.
Linus Pauling institute is a good resource. My reading indicates it can take up to 3 weeks to see significant results from supplementation but I have experienced changes much quicker.

I was hot and cold. Brain fog/Grouch and back again. I found strategies that helped keep me occupied. Just did one hour at a time. When I was a totally mess, I would just sit down and stop doing anything until it passed. I had many nightmares starring me in the role of doing something I would later regret...

Dreams are a good sign. Means you are getting real sleep vs an alcohol coma. Supplements are key but I’d advise a quick blood test to see if you are lacking anything. B12 and milk thistle will help replenish and flush liver. Anxiety will subside. Alcohol is a depressant, remember that and a toxin. Think of abstaining from alcohol like quitting smoking. Both are poison.
You will likely start to crave sugar (alcohol =fermented sugar really). Find a low cal substitute like a hard candy.
For social events, I bring a mocktail. My favorites are from Moment. I also replaced my wine with herbal tea at night. Both Yogi and sleepy time will help you relax before bed.
Lastly, congratulations!! You are worth every sober day!!!

Anxiety... yes. I felt like I was just in a really bad mood for about a week and a half. THen it regulated and got better. Excercise seemed to help quite a bit. Good luck.
