achickrmt's Logboek, 28 jul 11

Was diagnosed with Celiac disease which means I will be starting a gluten free diet for the sake of my small intestine. Apparently I showed all symptoms and signs except for weight loss. I never get the good stuff!! However, I am only 2 years into this disease so I have time to reverse the effects if I follow this strictly. Since I am a huge carb lover i can't help but feel like I am going to missing out on so many tasty foods but I will keep my focus on my health and those skinny jeans! I have restarted my weight and my start date because to me this is a new beginning. A chance to feel better deserves a fresh start!

Welcome! I too an one of the "lucky" ones who does not experience weight loss as a sign of celiac - which really sucks, if you can't eat half the foods in the world you'd think that the pay off would be that you looked like a stick! I actually experienced weight gain - I am actually at the heaviest point in my life (well I was a few weeks ago) Be careful using the replacement foods - gluten free bread, pasta, cookies, loafs etc. because aside from being considerably more expensive, they are way higher in calories and have very little fiber. Good luck with your journey!

Good advice.....Thanks so much. I just went shopping sunday with my husband and wow, what an eye opening experience. We have decided together that we are going to try to stay away from most of the processed foods in an attempt to make this an organic change instead of misery! The BREAD is HORRIBLE though and I am such a carb junkie. I see a breadmaker in my future!
