HCLF is a vegan lifestyle that is High Carbs Low Fat. So you can eat as many raw fruits and vegetables before around 4'oclock and after that time you can have as much corn pasta / potatoes / bread (aka cooked carbs) as you want to eat. Check out http://thebananagirl.com/faqs.php as the type of HCLF diet I eat is RawTill4 ^-^

Great that you have got so much out of eating a high carb diet but, I think you've gone a bit to the other extreme there. You need at least 10% protein (or 0.8g per kg of bodyweight) otherwise you might suffer from protein deficiency diseases such as Marasmus, or Kwashiorkor. The other thing is that you do need a certain amount of lipids too, e.g. oils and essential fatty acids. These help you absorb fat soluble vitamins A,D,K,E, and balance your hormones.

@GilesBathgate - Don't worry I do occasionally eat plant-based foods that are rich in fatty acids e.g Avocado & coconut. For my body weight I need 39.6g of protein which I exceed in. https://www.drmcdougall.com/misc/2007nl/apr/protein.htm is a website that demonstrates that protein is something I should not be worried about on in my diet. Thank you for your advice ^-^

You would be better off with 48grams or more since you weigh 60kg. You can get this from plant sources such as black beans, and quinoa. These are 'complete' protein sources and contain all of the essential amino acids that the human body cannot manufacture for itself. As for your website demonstrating that you should not worry about protein sure, when your body runs out of essential amino acids that it cannot make itself it can break down muscle to give you your required protein, but two things; Do you really want to lose muscle? How do you think this diet can be maintained indefinitely if you don't eat protein to re-build muscle?

I spoke to a dietician who told me my diet is fine and that I have more than enough protein that would not decrease muscle mass. I do find myself eating around 50g usually. I do eat beans but in a mix - too lazy to record each type of bean on here haha. I shall start buying more quinoa just in case though ^-^

I am basing my comment on your monthly averages as they show up in FS, 1% Protein (avg daily 26.70g). So you will have to forgive me for thinking that this is not quite normal. If you are eating much more than that and not recording it then that is fair enough. Definitely have some more Quinoa though, its wonderful stuff, such a nice flavour and texture ;)

Haha I definitely need to step-up my FS recording game. I'm mostly at school so it is difficult to record absolutely everything ^-^

I learned the hard way that if you eat less than 1200 calories. the body thinks your starving and won't let go of the calories.

Where did you get 1200 from? 1200, might be perfectly normal if you are very small, or even a child. I read somewhere that if you eat less than your Basal Metabolic Rate, you are on a 'fast', but that's also perfectly normal if only for a day or so, if for example you are following a 5:2 diet, or ADF. I've no idea what you mean by "won't let go of the calories." I think you mean, will try to conserve energy.

@SKennan, oh no that's sad to hear. I'm glad that you learned not to eat that small amount anymore.

Where does healthy and happy come in all of this. ? A lot of it is down to genes which we have no control over.

@bigfatbastard Don't really know what your comment is in relation to. But you are right, pretty much everyone can be healthy and happy on a traditional balanced diet. Its when people start completely cutting out food groups by dropping either protein, fat, or carbs, that I call this extreme. I don't think that there is a great deal of genetic diversity amongst human metabolism, so the idea that you need a diet to suit your genes is also absurd in my opinion. Again you are right, you have no control over it anyway, so you may as well eat a diet targeted toward mr or mrs average.

Big mistake. Mr or mrs Average. ?? have you looked around you lately ? mr and mrs average are 40lbs overweight. :)

Lol, Good point. I did say a diet targeted toward the average person, as in a diet designed for the nutritional needs of an average person. I didn't mean one should eat what the average person eats these days!
