Here are some visitors to my feeders this week that made me happy! No real change to my weight, but it was a better week overall. I did not record all my calories every day, but I did a bit better. I also did not get to the gym. Blah... It is such a struggle when I am working so much, but I did install a step counter on my phone and discovered I seem to get between 5 and 7,000 steps in per day at work. Some days it is more. I am also lifting and carrying quite a bit, so that keeps the muscles moving a little. Life is somewhat calmer. I still had plenty of worry and stress, but I did not ever overeat to sooth misery. That is a better choice! 151.2 Sunday... A rare dinner at a restaurant with hubby (burger and fries) 152.4 Monday 152.2 Tuesday 151.2 Wednesday 150 Thursday 150.2 Friday 150 Saturday Averaging my weekly weight to use as my official recorded weight is still new for me. Continuing to step on the scale daily to see where I am at seems is a good idea for now. Sometimes the fact that I am more than 5 pounds above my goal weight really troubles me, and sometimes I try to be happy with the fact that I have maintained my loss within about five pounds for more than 50 months. It is about perspective. :) I need to keep some occasionally! :) Have a great week, my friends!

I get scrub jays here. They have stellar jays in Tahoe. They are beautiful.

Jergens, I do feel very blessed! This spring I had a pair coming daily and a single, smaller male. I called them Dina, Dino, and Donnie! 😁 They seriously look prehistoric! Eral!!!! What a fantastic picture!!! You are a serious photographer!! So cool! It was so unexpected! I was trying to imagine what A a jay would be doing with sugar! I was thinking sugar cube or messing with a hummingbird feeder. I never thought sugar packets! What a thief! 😁 Mine come daily each morning. I feed my cats(indoor), feed the jays, and sit down with my coffee to enjoy the show!!! 😁

And... Confession, Eral, I work at a nature and wildlife store. I spend all day fielding questions about bird habitat, species, food, habits, feeders... I better know my birds! 😁 So, not a nerd... I get paid to know! 😂

Thank you, dear Princess!❤️😊❤️ Fritzy, I have only once in my life seen a scrub jay!!! I had no idea what it was! I was so excited to see something new (I've been feeding birds my whole life... And my mother before me)! Thankfully, I was visiting my feeder and I got a picture. I was able to figure it out. They are quite rare this far north. In fact, I found out the first pair was identified in Seattle area only rather recently. They are beautiful... Unlike their unimpressive name🙄😁 Thank you, mermee! I am not maintaining my goal weight. That is the rotten bit.. But I guess "maintaining" a little above is better than gaining and maintaining a bunch above. 😁 I think yu Wil be just fie with your weight over the holidays. Yu have proven your commitment and are well equipped. We all may bounce around a bit in the next months, but we know how to do this! We'll, you do anyway! ❤️❤️❤️

I personally think you've done a great job with your weight Melissa!!! I love these pics! I didn't realize flickers will eat seed from the feeder! I love them except when they drill on our metal vents on our roof when I'm trying to sleep in! 🤣🤣🤣

I’m walking a lot at work also Melissa.👍 Easiest way to get steps in, but I need to carry my phone and I forget.🙃
I’m going to start logging tomorrow! I’ll go a little bit more each day!💪
Thank you for the pictures of the birds. You must have a very noisy backyard. Stellar jays that yak all day, Pileated Woodpecker that brawl, and sweet Northern Flicker(?) couldn’t tell for sure.
How Fun!!!
Have Happy Halloween!!!💕 🎃

Thank you, cherylemtman! Eral, another beautiful photo! Wow! Main coon, you are doing so well! You must be so pleased! Bear! Thank you so much. I don't feel great because I know I could be doing a lot better. Whatever... another day another week... new chances and choices! BTW, I think this flicker was going for some meal worms in my seed mix. They do eat sunflower seeds, but for sure prefer suet! They sure can make a racket on metal pipes! I think the males usually do that in the spring when trying to find a mate. What reverberation they can achieve early in the morning! Noisy brats!

I am glad you are getting some steps in at work, Shrewdness. I'd rather go for a walk, but I am glad my work keeps me moving. :) Sometimes there is a lot of "racket" from noisy birds, but mostly I love it! I think it is so funny how Pileated woodpeckers announce their arrival! I can be on the other side of the house and know one is coming in to have dinner! Jays are rowdy for sure, but they also vocalize beautifully... they have so many calls! Have you ever heard when they sound like some kind of hawk? I thought a raptor was in my yard the first time I heard it! Nope, it was just a sassy blue fellow pretending!

Those black headed Jay's are pretty awesome. I don't think I've ever seen one
before. Way to adapt to your work situation.

Thanks gastropod! The steller's jays are super common here, but I've never seen a cardinal or an oriole! I've always wanted to!

Thanks for posting the pictures of the birds at your feeder. We never get large birds at our feeders. Here in VA, I'm mostly seeing our state bird the cardinal, bluebirds, robins, and finches. Even our cardinals are much smaller than the ones I have seen in the western states. There is so much beauty to appreciate. Thanks for sharing!!!
