I liked it. Only my second time with chaffles

Dang! That looks so good. My waffle iron started sticking so I'm doing my chaffles in a bowl. They don't get crispy, but I can cut in half to make a decent breakfast sandwich. Love the side of bacon...

I’m totally going to try Chaffles. You can do it in a regular waffle iron right?

Yes for sure Freetime as long as it is nonstick and has good heat. My first try on Chaffles was in my old heartshaped waffleiron. And that was a dissaster. LOL Yeah so when it does start to stick as Dboza says ... it is over...

I made chaffles for the first time this morning. They tasted great except super salty!!! I just ate them plain but I probably should have put something on them or in between to offset that saltiness. I eat pretty low sodium because my husband's legs swell up huge if he eats much at all. There must be a low sodium cheese. Do you use almond or coconut flour and erythrotol? I'm sure that would help but since my first time I only used egg and cheese.

great job of keeping the carbs at bay

The cheese I used had 210 mg sodium per 1/4 c. I had 1 egg and 1 c cheese. Put me at 990 mg sodium! Feel like I ate a salt block. I found a cheese that only had 140mg. I sooo want to make these again!!! But Kat, if you do try it I recommend buying the almond or coconut flour to cut the saltiness down. Some recipes even include cream cheese. I had none of those ingredients on hand. But I think they'd be great otherwise. A whole whopping 42g protein which is great for my diet plan! I just may not be used to salt since I don't consume alot but I felt kind of sick after. Of course I didn't stop eating the entire thing though!

Good going Bearnoggin. I do not find them salty but that may be because I am used to salt. The cheese I use is relatively salty but it vary from brand to brand I think. I use 50gr of mozzarella cheese and one egg, 2 tsp coconut flour and a tiny bit of xanthan when making them. If the egg is on the small side I may need a bit more cheese. That makes the two chaffles. There are other versions out there with all kinds of combinations of cheese and nutflours and flavours. But so far this is the only recipe I have tried. I do not add any sweetener. So far I have just made them savory

good to know, bear. I'm not a huge salt person, so very sensitive to it as far as taste. I've got both almond and coconut flour on hand, too. I've been craving cookies lately, but I could try to redirect the want.

Ty Liv. I’m anxious to give it a go. I’m thinking blt with avocado. (And of course the egg in the chaffle)
