I added an incredible 29 seconds to my plank! Smashing through the 4 minute mark! 5 minutes here I come!

Thank you! I actually do my plank live on Facebook, because it helps me keep my mind off what I'm doing and I hope that people will get inspired and try it. And I've had a few of my friends start planking. Today one of them told me she held it for 1 minute. She had been trying for two weeks to build up to 1 minute, and today she made it. Couple of my students are past the 2 minute mark. Those moments help keep me going.

A minute is very good! When I started I could barely do 30 seconds. I tell my classes to build up to a minute and do it every day.

Are you doing this to build abdominal muscles? You're better off doing weighted crunches and leg raises, if so.

No, I'm not. I'm doing it to see if I can. I do core exercises in my class, the plank is just extra credit for me.

It's taken me a few months to build up to the four minutes, and yes I do lots of other core exercises and upper body and lower body, basically everything to be stronger. I only time my planks on Wednesdays the rest of the week is working out, doing cardio and lifting weights. Y'all don't give up, y'all can get there too.

Every day we do plank in my classes but usually for 30-45 seconds, as part of a core routine we do.
