Operation Treadmill - Day Five - Morning
20 mins - not as much stamina (or speed?) - only held 3.2 mph on average. Would close my eyes and use the button on the arm to increase to 3.5 just in case it was a mental issue of seeing the number but didn't that wasn't it so I just decided my body was trying to tell me something, held a comfortable pace, gripped the arms, closed my eyes and SMILED. The smile on my face spread through my body and by the time I completed my silent mental list of gratitude I realized I'd done 18 mins so I just slowed the speed for my cooldown.
This morning it occurred to me (see how poorly I plan ahead?) that '21 days to form a habit' includes WEEKENDS! For NOW I WILL do it SAT / SUN and will even do it on Christmas! When I get my habit firmly set I'll reevaluate if I'm going to walk weekends. It's just 20 mins...right?

Good for you, smiling and exercising, at the same time - amazing! LOL. I too need to exercise, don't have any equipment but lots of excuses. Thanks for stopping by my journal - my name is Isabel but SM works fine too. Have a fab day.

The smiling is a great idea! Sometimes if I'm out jogging and its getting extra difficult and I'm grimacing and flopping about all over the place I force myself to straighten up and put on a kind of heroic olympian expression, and run like I'm feeling really graceful, powerful and confident! I read somewhere that this is a recognised psychological phenonmenon, that the physical action of smiling (or, conversely, frowning) really does make the person start to experience more of the associated emotion. I must take it a step further and actually think happy/grateful thoughts like you did too!
Haha I agree with Djburney though, my biggest smile of all is always just after finishing, pure euphoria!
