How does everyone track food when they go past midnight? I'm 3rd shift 7pm to 730am. What makes it harder is I work 3 12s, so I go back to kinda reg schedule if I'm off for a couple days in a row. Sometimes it's one off one on etc.

For the past 3 years when I've logged, I keep everything on the previous day until I go to bed . Which seemed easier at the time. It seems it will be very difficult to get all my protein etc in first thing in the morning and very late at night when I'm up if I cut it off at midnight. At work, sometimes I have no time to eat until midnight.

Sooo, should I just keep it within the 24hrs? Sometimes I will not record almost any food, and then eat almost my whole days food in the first few hours of the mornings...

Oh wow that difficult! Could you log whatever you are eating within wake till sleep, no matter the actual time? I guess you’d need to start with the previous day... idk lol

That's my problem. I've had 6 weeks off to think about this and I wait until the night before 😅

I don't think it matters, you should log what you eat when you are eating it, the food log is for you. If you don't eat until midnight then that is when you start. It will all work out in the end.

I go from midnight to midnight, since I start at midnight so that’s the beginning of my day. And I don’t think of my meals as breakfast lunch and dinner. I think of it as 1st meal, 2nd meal and 3rd meal and a couple of snacks between there somewhere. I do it like that so I can plan what I will eat and I don’t get hung up on what will I have for breakfast, I just make sure I eat a protein and a vegetable and/or fruit at each meal. It makes it easier for me to stay on track that way, and sometimes if I might be overtired because I didn’t get enough sleep I try to have food with me like lower carb fruit/vegetable it gives me energy and helps me feel satisfied, I don’t feel deprived there are a lot of good vegetables out there and they are delicious, hope that helps you, I am just about at my goal eating this way

I've worked mids for 19 years. I've tried both logging from waking to sleeping and midnight to midnight. The latter seems easier since I don't have to go to the previous day halfway through my shift. I do add food from the current day to yesterday sometimes if my deficit it too high.

I have work night shift so I understand what you saying. what I did is flipped everything I would get off at 8 a.m. and I would go into work at midnight. So my schedule is set up so that I would wake up at 3 p.m. and that was my morning period when I got off at 8 that was like in the middle of my day so all you have to do really is to think about when you want your morning to being when your evening is and change your meal times accordingly and you can even write out when your target times are so that you can get used to it. It's just a matter of flipping it around to suit you

Thanks for the input, I think I might try 12—12 to see how I like it. I use a garmin hr monitor so the day to day info might be easier to look at and compare. On another note, I wish they would bring the widget back, you could quickly scroll through the days and then the app would open to that day etc..

Nevermind, phone widget is back and working!

Your day is your day, from wake up to bedtime.

For me, 2am belongs to the day in which I awoke, not to the day in which I slept.

I log mine from waking until sleeping. Im frequently up past midnight so it goes on ‘yesterday’s’ log. Anything after I wake up at 6am goes on tomorrow’s log.
