Yesterday (my first day on Atckins) I was so tired! I don't know if it was because I had no carbs, or if I am getting sick. I feel a little better today. I hope I am not getting sick!

Its normal to feel this way for the first few days. Your body is detoxifying itself of all the bad stuff. Hang in there.

Thanks for letting me know! I was hoping it was something to do with the no carbs. I heard it takes 2 days of no carbs for your body to start burning the fat for energy.

I hope your eating your veggies. If your not, you better, you may get sick if you don't. You are allowed 20 for the first 2 weeks. I know if I don't eat enough carbs I get dizzy and 1 time I almost passed out.

It is important to get in all your veggies. Even try to get some with breakfast. This is NOT a "no-carb" diet it is a "controlled-carbohydrate" diet. Make sure you start counting, though. :)

If you haven't read Dr Atkins book (New Diet Revolution) then I strongly urge you to do so. It really has alot of great information regarding how to "do" Atkins. If you are still feeling really tired you may want to bump your carbs up to 25 for a few days and then go back to 20. Dr Atkins recommends this in the book for those who aren't feeling well on only 20 grams of carbs per day.

I actually felt great today. I am going by the 1972 version of Atkins which is practically no carbs. I have done a lot of research on diets and weight gain in the past 5 years because I can't figure out why I can't get rid of this weight. I eat so healthy it is crazy! My system is really sensitive to carbs, 20 carbs it too many for me right now. My goal is under 10 for the first 2 weeks. I have been eating a controlled carb diet for years. I don't eat suger ever and I only eat whole grains, fresh veggies and frozen berries in my morning protien drink, plus I work out every day. I haven't been able to lose weight which is why I need to cut out 99% of my carbs for the first 2 weeks. I am eating spinach and baby greens, but I would have to eat an awful lot to get 20 carbs out of them.

I sympathise. Unless I add fruit I can't get up to 20 carbs. Lettuce, spinach and water cress just don't have enough unless you eat an entire jungle. But like you I gain weight if I smell bread so I too am being a bit naughty on induction and running at well under the recommended 20 even tho' I have taken to adding spinach to everything. The "old Atkins" didn't require carbs during induction as I recall (all books are packed - I am in mid-housemove). I lost 4stone on that version without getting unwell - I just wish I had stuck to it.

I am so glad I'm not the only one! I moved a few years ago, and we have been remodeling, so my old Atkins book is packed away somewhere. I will find it this weekend. I can find enough info about it on the internet to get me by for now. I am feeling great! I got to make the full fat version of my favorite blue cheese dressing last night. I haven't had it in years! It was sooo good! I felt like I was cheating on my diet, but I was down 1 lb today!

Also, the Atkins web site has a ton of information on what you can eat and what you should avoid. If you listen to slease and sararay you can't go wrong. They know what they are talking about. Believe me, it is well worth it if you can get through the 14 day induction. It's alot more that just the limit to 20 carbs a day. It's also about kicking bad addictions and changing the way your body uses food. You will feel so much better you won't recongnize yourself. Also, keep in mind, it is going to be harder during the winter months that during the spring and summer. Just wait till the weather starts getting warmer.
